When The Gospel Becomes Noise

These days, it is painful to see how the sacredness of gospel music and Christian spirituality is being watered down, mocked and dragged into the mud. Songs that were once birthed from deep encounters with God, written with tears, and prayer, are now being replaced with empty lyrics and foolish rhymes that carry no weight, no anointing and no power to transform lives. Instead of ministering to the soul, they minister to the flesh, entertaining the crowd but starving the spirit, what a shame.

What on God's green earth jagular jugular, i can never go back o, promise keeper wey pass goal keeper or boter jor. Random phrases with no root in scripture, no spiritual depth, yet some people dress them up as gospel simply because they add bible verse to it. When the foundation is weak, the building cannot stand. True gospel music is meant to draw hearts back to God, not leave people confused, entertained or shouting meaningless chants that add nothing to their walk with Christ. This confusion has led many to equate noise with worship, hype with anointing and theatrics with spirituality. Some confuse carnival atmosphere with the presence of God, crowd excitement with revival and emotional manipulation with the move of the Spirit. But the Bible warns us, it says do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). We are called to be set apart, not to package worldly trends and sell them back as Christianity.

Carnality can never replace true spirituality, jumping and running up and down, chanting meaningless words and repeating shallow hooks cannot substitute for the power of God’s word and the depth of a heart broken before Him. Worship is not about catchy beats or clever wordplay it is about spirit and truth (John 4:24), anything less is deception. Let us not mistake entertainment for edification, fame for calling, clapping hands for genuine conviction or emotional goosebumps for the Holy Ghost. These are distractions that rob us of the purity of worship.

The gospel is not foolishness it is life, power and light, when we dilute it, we rob a generation of the chance to experience the true presence of God. Let us return to the place of sincerity, where songs carry power, prayers birth lyrics and lives are changed by every sound of worship. Because at the end of the day, spirituality is not about noise, it is about depth, it is not about the flesh, it is about the Spirit and anything else, no matter how cleverly disguised, is nothing but pure rubbish.
